This is the closest thing to an annual post I do, but every year on Veterans' Day I always take time to remember those that have served our country, as well as those presently in harm's way. This year it takes more of an artistic form...

Hero/Savior/Sacrifice

It’s a clear November morning
A chance to take time and reflect
To remember all the heroes
With honor and respect
For those that fight for freedom
And for all our rights to speak
Those who protect us from futures
That would otherwise be bleak

We honor those who came before
And those of you who stay
Where hero/savior/sacrifice
Could be just a step away
We know you’ve made a tough choice
We’re forever in your debt
We try to show our full support
You deserve all that you get

So while the puppets may look away
Or cast an evil eye
The images against you
Are just an evil lie
Though we may have disagreements
Trust me they’re not with you
We all wish you safe passage
And the best with what you do

And when you finally do return
I solemnly pray
That your deeds won’t be forgotten
For the remainder of our days
As you return to normal life
We wish you all the best
You’re a hero/savior/sacrifice
Who passed the toughest test
